Thoughts of a father going through a marital dissolution

Number of View: 297 I have been constantly reviewing the situation inside my head. We have to understand clearly that there are 2 human beings who have differing characters and the differences can’t be bridged anymore. Yes, everything can only be solved by forgiving and giving in but at what cost? To realize the regret few years down the road? To a certain extent, I have regretted why I didn’t make the decision sooner and have been giving and moving forward too often in the past. Moving forward for the sake of the psychological and emotional growth of  the child. It’s definitely not good for a child to have his parents separated. But is it better for the child to have their father and mother acting as strangers (or enemies) in the same house? Are we going to show the dysfunctional family to him? What will his view on the marriage and family life be like apart from seeing all the suffering? I brought up the issue where she attempted to commit suicide (by jumping out of the window). This is something she admitted and she promised not to do it again. Two weeks after that, after an argument, she …

Taxi driver expressed unhappiness at miscellaneous billings by ex-wife after divorce

Number of View: 233 Hey Gilbert, I accidentally chance on your blog and I have a question about my divorce which I am very puzzled and decided to drop you an email to see if you have any advice for me. I was divorced two years back and was uncontested. I have 2 kids and court ruled $400 for kids’ maintenance. Also I was asked to sign for agreeing to pay for kids’ education and Chinese New Year clothing – which I did sign off at the law firm. I have been paying promptly for the maintenance each month. However, my ex will send me receipts claiming item is for educational use etc. Even Chinese New Year clothing, she will forward all sort of receipt asking me to transfer money to her for the purchases. I am a taxi driver and does not earn that much. When I tried to communicate with her she will use the same old sentence saying that she can go and report me. My friends are saying that as long as I have make the necessary maintenance payment, she cannot file for additional claim. I am not sure how it is and hope you can …

Wife frustrated over irresponsible husband who has a alternative lifestyle

Number of View: 296 Hi Gilbert It wasn’t purely because of his past. Back then he wasn’t providing financially for not a month or two but close to a year, job hop, didn’t help me with the baby (baby was 4 months then) and always online with the gays either on msn or on gay chatrooms. He even went back to his parents place and lied compulsively that he was working late … He was at that time, still active with gays although he claimed that he stopped having sex with them after marriage. But he did give his mobile number to a lot of them because I saw for myself in his emails and profiles on the many gay websites he signed up. The bottomline is also his compulsive lying trait. He could lie about his employment, his colleagues anything he could think of. I did some research about sexually abused children. Although this is one of the characteristics of a sexually abused individual since young, it doesn’t mean I should tolerate everything from not providing financially for a year to not helping out with the baby as well as not knowing when he is telling the truth or …
