Woman enquiring divorce on one-year-old marriage with alcoholic abusive husband

Number of View: 288 Dear Mr Gilbert, My husband and I married in Sept 2012. I have a precious baby boy who is 4-month plus old. But I will like to divorce as the husband have accuse me, beat me, insult not only me but my family member as well. He is a alcoholic and  a serious one. We  not staying together anymore. I’m the only one who is paying for baby stuffs and take care of baby. Even before baby is out, every month check up and the delivery, I paid all. He still owe me money which is 5-digit amount. Would like to check and hope you can help me:- 1. Divorce under 3 years is possible but need to prove that show the marriage has broken down beyond repair, under unreasonable behavior ground –  what kind of proof  is needed, if do not have the proof, what can I do to proceed? 2. I want to have sole custody of my precious boy, it is possible? 3. Did applied for BTO flat, and have paid for the 5% downpayment with the CPF  grant, what should I do with this? Ex-civil servant terminated due to moonlighting as cabbie and facing marital strife

Number of View: 297Dear Gilbert, I was once an ex civil servant who worked two jobs (as a part time taxi driver ) so that we can afford a car  for the family. My wife don’t pay for the instalments, petrol and maintainance of the car  but  we share the household expenses.. My wife is also a civil servant, she earns more than me but she pays lesser in monthly HDB instalments for our matrimonial flat. Her wilful behaviour caused me to lose my civil servant job and even accused me of threatening her with  spousal abuse which is  not true. Many issues happened later  on but cut long story short, one fine day when I was checking her bags to retrieve back my car alarm which she kept away on purpose and a tussle over the bag followed, she claimed spousal abuse and called police. I told her the consequences of her actions and she said I was threatening her. I was investigated and found moonlighting as a taxi driver. And I was forced to resign from the civil service when my case concluded. So I was suddenly reduced from a middle income earner  to the low income bracket. …
